Leesburg Police seek witnesses to Battlefield Parkway crash

The Leesburg Police Department Traffic Management Unit is investigating a crash that seriously injured two adults.

On Dec. 9, shortly before 5:30 p.m., Leesburg Police dispatchers received reports of a crash in the area of the Marketplace at Potomac Station shopping center involving a vehicle that had struck a pole and was on fire. The preliminary investigation determined that an SUV being driven southbound on Battlefield Parkway NE impacted a light pole in the area between Potomac Station Drive NE and East Market Street (Rt. 7).

The driver, a man in his 40s, was ground transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
The passenger, a woman in her 40s, was medevacked to a regional hospital for treatment of
injuries. As of last evening, both were listed in serious, but stable condition.

The affected section of southbound Battlefield Parkway NE remained closed for a few hours
while officers conducted the investigation. Thank you to the Virginia State Police and Virginia
Department of Transportation for their assistance, and to those who stopped to assist prior to the arrival of emergency services.

The crash remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department TMU. Anyone who
