Leesburg Police investigate assault on W&OD Trail

The Leesburg Police Department is currently investigating a reported assault that is alleged to have occurred on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 7, on the W&OD Trail, in the area northwest of the trail access point from Tuscarora Creek Park (425 Solitude Court SE, Leesburg).

The juvenile teenaged female victim reported being grabbed by an adult male while she was jogging on the trail at approximately 6 p.m.. A bicyclist collided with the suspect at which time the suspect fled the area on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, between 6’0” to 6’4”, with dark brown curly hair that is approximately shoulder length, with hairy arms, and wearing tan cargo shorts and a blue short sleeved shirt.

The incident remains under investigation by the Leesburg Police Department Criminal Investigation Section. We ask that the involved bicyclist, as well as anyone who has not already spoken with law enforcement and believes that they witnessed the incident or has information about the identity of the suspect to contact Detective M.
