Leesburg Police Department seeks assistance to name K-9
The Leesburg Police Department is excited to report that their K-9 family has once again grown in size. Officer Bobby Hall has been selected as the handler of the departments newest K-9, a 2-year-old male Belgian Malinois.
The department is offering the community members an opportunity to take part in the naming of their newest K-9. Members of the Leesburg Police Department recently narrowed down name choices to the following: Lucky, Rocky, or Riley (in memory of LPD Dispatcher Sherry Riley who passed away earlier this year). Now they need your help.
Please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/J8SDBY3 and help them choose his name. Voting began Friday, Aug. 26, on International Dog Day, and closes on Thursday, Sept. 1, at noon.
Officer Hall and the new K-9 will now complete a basic K-9 handler course, where the K-9 will receive training in patrol and explosive ordinance detection. Officer Hall has been with the Leesburg Police Department for more than 20 years and has previous experience as an LPD canine handler. Upon graduation, the two will be assigned to the Field Operations Division.
