Leesburg Police Department investigating fatal hit-and-run crash
The Leesburg Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a passenger involved in the collision. The incident occurred on Oct. 23, at approximately 1:45 p.m. at the Leesburg Bypass at Fort Evans Road NE, Leesburg.
Preliminary reports indicate that the tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on the Rt 15 bypass and struck a Chrysler 300, then fled the scene. Shortly afterward, officers located the tractor-trailer abandoned in the 1000 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE. Investigators have spoken with several persons of interest associated with the truck and are working diligently to uncover any leads that may assist in positively identifying the individual responsible.

On Oct. 26, 93-year-old Monica Lee of Lovettsville, a passenger in the Chrysler, succumbed to her injuries and died. The other two occupants of the Chrysler (driver and a passenger) have since been released from the hospital.
