Leesburg Police charge Georgia resident with possession of child sexual abuse material
In November 2024, the Leesburg Police Department received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an alert from a social media platform. The report indicated that one of the platform’s user accounts may have contained child sexual abuse material.
During the thorough investigation, detectives identified seven digital images consistent with CSAM. Through investigative efforts, the suspect was identified as Penelope Colon, 26, of Augusta, GA. At the time the content was uploaded, Colon was a resident of Leesburg, Virginia.
On June 18, Colon returned from Georgia and was charged with seven counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Colon was released on June 20, on a personal recognizance bond.
The Leesburg Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding the possession, distribution, or production of child sexual abuse material to immediately contact their local law enforcement agency.
