Leesburg man charged following brandishing incident

The Leesburg Police Department has charged a Leesburg man following an incident involving a pellet rifle that resembled a real firearm.

On Saturday, March 8, at approximately 11 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance in the unit block of Royal Street SE, Leesburg. Upon arrival, they determined that Aidan S. Coffman, age 19, of Leesburg, had threatened an individual known to him while brandishing a pellet rifle designed to look like a real firearm. During the encounter, Coffman reportedly contacted the victim and made threats via a public communication channel.

As a result of the investigation, Aidan S. Coffman has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Brandishing a Firearm (2 counts)
  • Assault (2 counts)
  • Threatening Over Public Airway (2 counts)

Coffman was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. He is currently being held pending a bond review.
