Leesburg man arrested for bank robbery

The Leesburg Police Department has arrested a Leesburg man in connection with a bank robbery that occurred today at the Truist Bank, 1007 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg.

At approximately 11:42 a.m., officers responded to reports of a robbery in progress at the Truist Bank. Officers from the Leesburg Police Department quickly arrived and began canvassing the area. An officer spotted a person matching the suspect description, near the Leesburg Premium Outlet Mall, 241 Fort Evans Road NE, at which point the subject ran on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the suspect without further incident. The suspect, identified as Joshua M. Boyce, 25, of Leesburg, was taken into custody and charged with robbery and wearing of a mask in connection with a robbery. Boyce was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he is currently awaiting a bond review.

Anyone who was in the area of the Truist Bank before or at the time of the robbery or who may have witnessed suspicious activity and has not talked with police, is urged to contact us.
