LCSO arrests three suspects linked to copper theft ring
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three individuals connected to a copper wire theft ring responsible for over $3 million in losses throughout the region, and primarily in Loudoun County.
On Dec. 18, LCSO deputies, working in coordination with Maryland State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, and the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Alexandru Constantin, 43; Cristinel Petrovici, 38; and Robert Ciucur, 29—all of College Park, Maryland.
The arrests come after an 8-month-long investigation into multiple reports of copper wire theft at different utility facilities in Loudoun County, as well as other locations in our area. Each suspect faces charges of grand larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
