Kevin Malone’s Dream Takes Shape on King Street
A familiar name in Loudoun County’s restaurant industry is preparing to add a new chapter to downtown Leesburg’s dining scene.
The Malone family has purchased two properties at 5 and 7 N. King St. and plans to transform the site into a traditional Irish pub, bringing a new concept to one of the town’s most recognizable locations.
Evan and Meaghan Malone purchased the properties alongside Evan’s mother, Kathleen Malone.
The project also reflects a longstanding vision within the Malone family, inspired by the late Kevin Malone, whose leadership and vision were central to building the family’s restaurant group across Loudoun and beyond.
According to the family, the Irish pub fulfills a dream shared by Kevin Malone and his son, Evan, who long envisioned creating an authentic Irish pub in the heart of Leesburg.
Inspired by a shared love of Ireland, community and hospitality, the project will serve as a tribute to Kevin’s legacy while continuing the Malone family’s tradition of creating welcoming spaces for residents and visitors.
The properties are currently home to Downtown Saloon, which is expected to remain open through the Independence Day holiday before closing to allow renovations to begin. The new establishment is expected to feature Irish-inspired food and beverages, with additional details anticipated as the project moves forward.
The acquisition marks another investment by a family that has helped shape the region’s restaurant landscape for decades and represents the continuation of a vision rooted in Kevin Malone’s passion for hospitality and bringing people together.
The Malone family has played a significant role in the restaurant industry in Leesburg, Purcellville and Northern Virginia for decades, building a portfolio of beloved establishments that range from casual neighborhood favorites to destination dining experiences.
Generations of residents have celebrated milestones, gathered with friends and shared family meals at their restaurants, making the family’s latest investment in downtown Leesburg especially noteworthy.
The family is associated with several well-known restaurants, including Tuscarora Mill, Magnolias at the Mill, South Street Under and Fire Works Pizza, helping establish Loudoun County as a destination for both residents and visitors seeking locally owned dining experiences.
Located in the heart of downtown Leesburg near the Loudoun County Courthouse, the King Street property has long been a fixture in the town’s hospitality and nightlife scene. The planned transformation into an Irish pub will add another dining and gathering place to the historic district, which continues to attract residents and visitors alike.
The project also reflects continued confidence in downtown Leesburg’s economic vitality and appeal. Local restaurants, shops and entertainment venues remain a key part of the town’s identity, drawing customers from across Loudoun County and the broader Northern Virginia region.
Renovation work is expected to begin this summer, with the Malone family planning to welcome guests in fall 2026 and bring what they describe as “a little piece of Ireland” to downtown Leesburg. Additional details, including the restaurant’s name, menu offerings and opening date, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
