In support of Laura TeKrony – Policies not Politics

Dear Editor:

The boundaries of the new Little River voting district encompass some of Loudoun’s most diverse landscapes, stretching from the Blue Ridge in the rural west to Brambleton in the suburban east. Therefore, the Little River District has diverse land use policies with rural, transitional, and suburban policy areas and diverse demographics ranging from farmers to high tech. It follows that Little River will face real challenges in the future; primarily how to balance the growing needs of suburban Loudoun with protecting Loudoun’s rural west. Whomever wins this November’s Supervisor election to replace Tony Buffington will have their work cut out for them.

This is why I am voting for Laura TeKrony, candidate for Little River District. Having served as a County legislative aid for over seven years, Laura has a first-hand understanding of the mechanics of County operations and can be effective on Day One.

As a County staffer and also as an engaged citizen volunteer, Laura has proven how she intends to lead if elected. Three of Laura’s top priorities are education, environment and preservation.

Laura has demonstrated her commitment to Education. When LCSB intended to close western Loudoun’s village-centered elementary schools, Laura spearheaded a campaign to keep the schools open. Laura’s three daughters attended LCPS and as a parent, Laura understands what takes to support Loudoun’s schools.  If elected, Laura has committed to competitive salaries for teachers and expanding metal health access for our students.

Laura has demonstrated her commitment to the Environment. As a legislative aid, Laura crafted policy that led to the establishment of the County’s first Environmental Commission. If elected, Laura has committed to expanding the Environmental Commission’s work and has made the commitment to increase parks and trails County-wide.

Laura has demonstrated her commitment to Preservation and Conservation. As a citizen advocate, Laura served on the Loudoun County Heritage Commission. As well, Laura led the effort to prevent demolition of the County-owned historic Arcola School, which now will be successfully transferred to Capretti Partners in return for construction of much needed attainable housing.

Laura was a lead voice preserving the County-owned Aldie Tavern, working to find a conservation buyer so that this core piece of the village could retain its historic character. If elected, Laura has committed to working with landowners to place more open space into easement, including supporting a County sponsored PDR and TDR program.

Join me between now and Election Day in support of a better path forward for Loudoun and vote
for Laura TeKrony.
