Helmer should drop out of primary

Dear Editor:

As a resident of Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, I have serious concerns about the recent sexual assault allegations that have surfaced against Dan Helmer.

If even half of what he is accused of is true, he should drop from the primary race.

Organizations and public officials who have endorsed him should rescind their endorsements immediately in solidarity with women.

How can someone implicated in such despicable treatment of women claim to represent the best interest of women, or anyone for that matter, in Congress?

If he were to win the primary, Dan Helmer would be a serious handicap for the Democratic ticket in the election in the fall.
