Fire Marshal’s Investigate Early Morning Incident in Leesburg

The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office (LCFR-FMO), in coordination with the Town of Leesburg, are investigating a reported explosion near Sparkleberry Terrace in NE Leesburg that occurred just in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 5, 2025.

Just after 4:00 a.m., the Loudoun County Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a reported explosion in the area of Sparkleberry Terrace and Ginko Terrace. Fire and rescue units from Leesburg, Hamilton, Ashburn, Lansdowne, command officers and members of the Leesburg Police Department responded.

Units arrived on scene to find several dislodged manhole covers with light smoke in the area. Firefighters
checked the incident area and found no further hazards or dangers to the community.

The LCFR-FMO has initiated an investigation into the incident and is requesting any information or video
from the scene be sent to Investigator Dillion Huss at 571-528-3964 or dutyfm@Loudoun.gov.
