Dufek announces his retirement

Police Chief Barry Dufek has announced his retirement, effective Feb. 3. Chief Dufek has led the Purcellville Police Department since July 1, 2024, following the retirement of Interim Chief Dave Dailey.

A Purcellville resident for 13 years, Chief Dufek brings 25 years of law enforcement experience, including the last nine years serving the Purcellville community.

Deputy Chief Sara Lombraña will step into the role of Interim Chief on Feb. 3, ensuring a seamless transition of leadership.
