Dorazio selected as Director of Transportation & Capital Infrastructure

After a nationwide recruitment, Sherene Dorazio has been selected as the new director of the Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure effective July 3, County Administrator Tim Hemstreet has announced.
Dorazio has extensive service in the public sector, serving most recently as the deputy executive director of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Office of Construction and Facilities Management, which oversees construction and management of thousands of VA facilities across the U.S.
Her prior work experience also includes leadership roles as a civilian working for the U.S. Army for more than two decades, including as deputy director of facilities and logistics at the Army’s Installation Management Command Headquarters and deputy director of facilities engineering at the Army’s Medical Command Headquarters.
“While we had an impressive and dynamic pool of candidates for this role, Ms. Dorazio emerged as an outstanding leader and manager,” said Hemstreet. “Additionally, she brings to Loudoun a wide range of knowledge and experience in the areas of planning, design, construction of public facilities and other aspects of civil engineering, as well as in programing and financial management, which will serve her well as the head of one of the county’s largest and most active departments.”
As director of DTCI, Dorazio will oversee the planning, design and construction of capital projects for the county through the Capital Improvement Program as well as the county’s transportation system, which includes long range transportation planning and traffic engineering.
Staff in DTCI also serve as technical advisors to the Board of Supervisors on matters relating to transportation, facility development, regional funding, project scheduling and cost estimating. More

Dorazio holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from The University of Alabama in Huntsville and is a licensed professional engineer.
