Crime prevention seminar Aug. 26

On Aug. 26, at 7 p.m., the Purcellville Police Department along with Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will host the second joint Crime Prevention Seminar.

The seminar will take place in-person at Purcellville Town Hall, 221 S. Nursery Avenue, in the Council Chambers. Individuals can also attend the presentation virtually, using the link provided below, Chief McAlister of the Purcellville Police Department and Deputy First Class Ethan Martin of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will conduct the seminar jointly, covering fraud and scam information, awareness, and prevention material.

Nobody wants to be the victim of a crime, even a small one. It can be a traumatic experience and result in the loss of property, money, time, and your sense of security. That is why it is important to try to recognize frauds and scams, before they can occur. In order to help keep you, your information, and your loved ones safe; the PPD and LCSO have partnered to help inform citizens of simple things you can do to help prevent a crime from occurring.

This information session on Fraud and Scam awareness will be a good starting point. Covering various types of internet, mail, and call scams, how to protect your credit and basic instances of credit card theft; how to be an educated consumer and maintain the security of your information, particularly when using the internet.
