Comprehensive Arts Plan public review meetings

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services announces virtual review meetings for the Comprehensive Arts Plan for Loudoun County.

The Comprehensive Arts Plan provides a vision for the arts in Loudoun County, with a clear set of goals and strategies regarding the development of public support for the arts that recognize and highlight the County’s unique attributes. This plan provides strategies for both short and long-term arts and cultural programming in the visual and performing arts. The County will release the Comprehensive Arts Plan soon for public review and comment.

Designing Local, a professional firm working nationally in arts and cultural planning, developed the CAP based on months of public outreach including meetings with residents and businesses, an online public survey and a series of public workshops.

Community members are invited to participate in two virtual meetings to learn about, review, and provide feedback on the Community Arts Plan. Each meeting will feature the same content and will offer opportunities to engage with the arts planning team. Please mark your calendar for one of the following dates:

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors provided for an Art Programs Initiative in January 2023. This initiative is operating within the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. Temporary staffing positions have been tasked with increasing the visibility of the Loudoun County Art Collection, as well as managing the development of the CAP for the county.

Since September 2024, Designing Local conducted a wide-reaching series of interviews with Loudoun citizens engaged in the arts, arts organizations, government officials and economic development staff through one-on-one meetings, focus groups, and a tour of the county. They have also conducted a public survey that garnered over 1,100 responses and organized public input workshops throughout the county to gather and refine the community’s expressed needs and opportunities in the arts.
