Be happy with less
Dear Editor:
The Biden-Wexton energy policy is destroying our country.
Sitting on top of the world’s greatest energy reserves, Democrat policy has forced our nation to beg Saudi Arabia and Venezuela to produce more oil.
Rather than be energy independent and access the massively abundant natural gas and oil that is right underneath us, Biden-Wexton have made our country energy dependent on others.
The Democrats have crushed our ability to generate energy, reduced our supply, and driven up prices.
Democrat energy policy has also driven up the price for food. Why? Because it takes diesel fuel to harvest crops and ship them across the country. And it takes petroleum and natural gas to make fertilizer.
So, because of Democrats, we all now have to pay more to drive our cars, more to feed our family, and soon a whole lot more to heat our homes.
All of this has been done in the name of climate change (what Democrats used to call “global warming,” but then that wasn’t panning out so well, so now it’s “climate change”).
Using “climate change” as top cover, Democrats are driving Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria marketed as sustainability for the environment. Democrats are pressing companies to improve their ESG score as their civic duty with the lure of government contracts as the real incentive.
Ask Germany and Sri Lanka how improving their ESG score worked out.
Germany has rich coal reserves and used to produce 40 percent of their electricity. A couple of years ago, German leaders made the decision to improve their ESG score and close all coal plants by 2038 and replace them with renewable energy and natural gas (from Russia). Now that Russia has turned off the natural gas, and with little of their own coal, German citizens are in real trouble heading into winter.
The Sri Lankan government decided to ban the import of fertilizers to improve their ESG score and told the country’s 2 million farmers that they would have to go totally organic. As a result, the country experienced a 30-60 percent decrease in crop yield, and grocery prices went up by as much as 90 percent.
Like Germany and Sri Lanka, the Biden-Wexton energy policies are an utter failure. Our government leaders should be providing opportunities that make it easier for us to feed and take care of our families.
Instead, in the land of plenty, what Democrats really want is for us (the middle class) to be happy with less.
Vote Republican.
