Assistant Town Manager, HR Director Sue Vice Mayor and Town
Assistant Town Manager Diana Hays and Human Resources Director LaDonna Snellbaker have filed a lawsuit against Vice Mayor Carl “Ben” Nett, in both his individual and official capacities, as well as the Town of Purcellville.
They are represented by Thomas K. Plofchan, Jr. and Jacqueline A. Kramer of Westlake Legal Group, the same firm representing Acting Chief Sara Lombrana and previously representing former Police Chief Cynthia McAlister in separate lawsuits against the town. The suit was filed March 25 in Loudoun County Circuit Court.
The complaint alleges that Nett made comments described as “harassing and demeaning,” including claims of defamation. It references his campaign platform, which emphasized reducing costs for the town, and outlines the Town’s Grievance Panel Policy along with the plaintiffs’ account of how that process was handled. According to the filing, these events and interactions contributed to the workplace environment the plaintiffs describe in their suit.
The 20-page complaint details multiple incidents and communications the plaintiffs cite as supporting their claims. In addition to the alleged comments, it addresses procedural issues and administrative actions they say were mishandled. The filing seeks $10 million in consequential damages and $350,000 in punitive damages.
The case is now pending in Loudoun County Circuit Court, where it will proceed through the standard legal process.
