Arcola Recycling Center closing Feb. 23—interim site opens March 1

Loudoun County is temporarily closing the Arcola Recycling Center, 24244 Stone Springs Boulevard, effective Monday, Feb. 23. The last day the public will have access to the center is Sunday, Feb. 22.

A temporary replacement site is scheduled to open by Sunday, March 1, at 24328 Marrwood Drive in Aldie. Like the county’s other recycling centers, the temporary site will accept typical household quantities of bottles, cans, jugs, jars, cardboard and paper.

The Arcola Recycling Center is closing due to a land development project that will include a temporary closure of a section of Stone Springs Boulevard adjacent to the center. A portion of the redevelopment project will replace the existing Arcola Recycling Center with a new state-of-the-art recycling drop-off center near its current location at no cost to the county.

The new center will be larger than the current operation, with greater capacity and public access. The newly constructed Arcola Recycling Center is expected to open in approximately six months.

More information about the county’s recycling centers, including details about accepted materials and directions to the centers, may be found at loudoun.gov/recycle.
