Ad submission guidelines
AI-generated files are not acceptable.
Newsprint offset printing has very specific technical requirements, and we're finding that even the loveliest AI-generated designs can't quite meet them yet. The traditional design process is still the most reliable path to a beautiful printed ad.
How to export print-ready artwork from Canva
- Set your design dimensions to the exact ad size before you start — Canva uses inches, so match the specs you were given.
- Use only Canva's built-in elements, photos, and fonts. Avoid uploading images from the web, which are often low-resolution screen graphics.
- When you're ready to export, click Share → Download.
- Choose PDF Print (best for printing) as the file type — not PNG or JPG.
- Click Download. Send that PDF file, not a screenshot or photo of your screen.
PNG and JPG exports from Canva are screen-resolution only (72–96 dpi) and will not print clearly. PDF Print is the only Canva export suitable for newspaper reproduction.
