Purcellville police report March 4

02/25/22          11:44 a.m.       1201 Wolf Rock Drive                                               Fraud

A subject attempted to cash a fraudulent check at the Bank of Charlestown branch in Purcellville. He presented two forms of ID, without being prompted, and asked the teller to hurry. Suspicious, the teller told the customer that she would need to call the issuing company and verify the check.

At that point the suspect collected his ID and the check and left the bank. Shortly thereafter, the Leesburg branch manager contacted the Purcellville branch and reported that the same subject was in the Leesburg location, attempting to cash the check.

Leesburg Police responded and caught the suspect in the bank. Purcellville officers obtained and served warrants for Forgery and Uttering and Possessing Forged Bank Notes.  

02/25/22          11:55 p.m.       Maple Ave at Main Street                              Overdose

A subject purportedly accidentally overdosed on prescription medicine and alcohol. Although the call notes indicated that the subject was turning blue and was unresponsive, the first officer on the scene found the victim and the reporting party up and mobile and they walked to a medic unit that was staged at the 7-Eleven. Medics checked the subject, who refused further treatment. 

02/27/22          9:15 p.m.         300 Block of Chincoteague Court                  Phone Threats

The complainant received a phone call in which her estranged husband, upset over a restrictive custody agreement, made threats by telephone.

The complainant responded to the magistrate and obtained an emergency protective order. The officer spoke with the suspect, who met Deputies from the LCSO at the Tri-State Exxon, where he was served with his copy of the protective order.

02/27/22          9:32 p.m.         100 Block of N. 16th Street                             Domestic Assault

The complainant, a victim of domestic violence, met officers in the parking lot of her complex and reported that she had been assaulted by her intoxicated boyfriend. The victim was bleeding from her lip. 

Officers located the suspect, who denied both the physical assault and being intoxicated. He claimed having only one beer, which was counter to a BAC reading of .13 from the Alco-sensor test that he took.

The suspect was arrested and transported to the Adult Detention Center, where he was held without bond until his court appearance on Monday, Feb. 28. The magistrate also issued an Emergency Protective Order.

3/02/22                        7:19 p.m.         Town of Purcellville                                       Mental Health Issue                                                              

A resident of a group home contacted police in reference to unfounded complaint of emotional abuse by staff members.

An officer spent time with the complainant, lending an empathetic ear, while he aired his grievances.  As he was not a danger to himself or others, no other police intervention was necessary.
