Leesburg teenager faces attempted murder charges in shooting

A 17-year-old from Leesburg has been charged with five counts of Attempted Murder after he discharged a firearm multiple times at an occupied vehicle on Saturday.

LCSO Deputies initially responded to the area of Boxwood Place in Ashburn shortly after 1 a.m. on Jan. 15 after a resident reported hearing gunfire in the area.

The investigation determined the incident involved two groups of teenagers and stemmed from an earlier altercation. Some of the subjects later confronted the victims in the area of Boxwood Place, and the teenage suspect shot at the victim’s vehicle as they drove away. The subjects and the victims all fled the area. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Detectives with the LCSO later identified the 17-year-old as a suspect and Loudoun County Juvenile Court Services issued the petitions on Jan. 19. The teenager was served with the petitions today, Jan. 20, and he is being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.

This case remains an active investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective K. Mitchell at 703-777-1021. You may also submit a tip through the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office app. The Loudoun Sheriff app is available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
