Purcellville police report Dec. 21

12/17/21          12:58 p.m.       100 Block of O Street                          Destruction of Property

A lock on a gate in the rear of the property had been removed and replaced without the knowledge or consent of the property owner. This may be related to an issue of dumpster access by another business in the area. 

12/17/21          3:29 p.m.         900 Block of Queenscliff Court           Information Only

The complainant placed signs in the town right of way at Valley Springs Drive and East A Street. A neighbor alerted her that someone was taking the sign. The complainant responded to the area and found the sign on the ground with letters removed. 

12/17/21          9:05 p.m.         700 E. Main Street                              Petit Larceny

The store manager reported that three juveniles ran from the store after taking cases of White Claw alcoholic beverage and ran onto Maple Avenue and got into a waiting vehicle. Witnesses were located and identified two of the subjects. Based on the witness statements and interviews with some of the suspects, police were able to identify all four subjects. The facts of the case will be presented to a juvenile intake officer to determine if the case will be prosecuted. 

12/18/21          12:41 p.m.       220 E. Main Street                              Hit and Run

The victim reported that he parked his undamaged car in the lot at approximately 10:30 a.m. He returned to the car at 12:40 p.m. and noticed damage and paint transfer on his driver’s door. No information was left by the driver of the striking vehicle.

12/19/21          2:47 a.m.         200 Blk of Misty Pond Terrace           Unattended Death

Officers responded to a call, in which, medics were dispatched for a cardiac arrest. CPR was already in progress by medics who were unable to revive the patient. The decedent’s next of kin and primary care physician were notified.  

12/22/21          10:50 a.m.        On-line                                                Fraud

The complainant received a message via Facebook messenger with a link, promising free products from Amazon. He clicked on the link and was provided with a name and credit card number and instructed to purchase a Nintendo E gift card valued at $99.00. He did so and was instructed to give the card number to a subject named Michael Healy. He did this and after speaking to a friend, realized that he had been duped into making a purchase, likely using a stolen credit card.

12/22/21          11:07 a.m.        203 Hirst Road                                    Check Fraud

An employee of the Bank of Clark County reported that on two occasions, fraudulent checks had been passed at the Purcellville branch of the bank. Both customers had been reimbursed. No additional information was available at the time of this report.

12/23/21          9:10 a.m.         200 Block of W. K Street                    Trespassing                                                                                                                                        

The complainant reported that he left his garage door open overnight. He checked his security camera and saw an unknown subject exiting the garage, at approximately 2:00 a.m. He checked the garage but did not find anything to be missing.
