Applications open for Youth in Government Day
Loudoun County’s Youth in Government Day for the 2025-2026 school year will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Douglass Community Center and the Loudoun County Government Center in Leesburg. Youth in Government Day is a unique program designed to engage high school juniors and seniors with the workings of local government.
Youth in Government Day offers students a rare opportunity to meet members of the Board of Supervisors, gain insights into county government departments, and explore potential career paths in public service.
The day will feature a variety of activities, including a panel discussion on local government functions and future career opportunities, a tour of the Historic Douglass High School Education and Development Campus, and a live Board of Supervisors meeting at the Loudoun County Government Center. Participants will also enjoy lunch with their voting district representatives, providing a chance for direct interaction and discussion.
This program is available to current high school juniors and seniors from Loudoun County Registration Details:
- Opens: Tuesday, Sept. 2
- Closes: Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 9 a.m.
Due to limited space, only three applicants from each school will be accepted, with a waitlist created if necessary. Students must commit to attending the full day, as attendance will be taken, and schools will be notified of any absences.
Please note that transportation to the Douglass Community Center or the Pennington Lot in Leesburg must be arranged by participants. Student drivers should park at the Pennington Lot. Students who are being dropped off should be dropped off at the Douglass Community Center. Transportation between the Douglass Community Center and the Loudoun County Government Center will be provided during program hours.
To apply, students and their parents/guardians must complete the Student Application by Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Applications can be submitted here.
