Rehabilitation of St Louis Road over Goose Creek bridge is completed
As of a May 20 announcement, the Middleburg St Louis Road (Route 611) over Goose Creek bridge rehabilitation project is complete. This project has improved safety, given drivers a smoother ride, and extended the overall life of the bridge located between Route 50 and Welbourne Road/Millville Road (Route 743), according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The bridge was built in 1969 and averages 3,300 vehicles a day.
The project included replacing the bridge’s concrete beams with steel beams, replacing the concrete deck, and repairing bridge piers. Construction began in January 2024 on the $4.3 million project, which was financed with federal and state funding including State of Good Repair funds used for bridges and pavement. The project was completed on time and under budget. The construction contractor was Martins Construction of Falls Church.
