Arrest made in November 2024 burglary at Aeropostale Store

The Leesburg Police Department is pleased to announce the arrest of a Pennsylvania man in connection with a burglary that occurred at the Aeropostale store in November 2024.

On Nov. 23, 2024, at approximately 5:10 a.m., officers responded to the Aeropostale store located at 241 Fort Evans Road NE, Leesburg, for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the business had been forcibly entered, and merchandise valued at approximately $6,500 had been taken. Additionally, the suspect damaged a bench owned by the outlet mall valued at $2,276.

Through the course of the investigation, Leesburg Police Department detectives were able to identify Timothy E. Root, 58, from Philadelphia, PA, as a person of interest. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued for Root on felony charges of burglary, grand larceny, possession of burglarious tools, and destruction of property.

Root was arrested in Lebanon, PA, by the Lebanon Police Department on Jan. 25, 2025, and is being held at the Lebanon County Correctional Facility pending extradition back to Leesburg, VA.
