Interactive map presentation to highlight the history of Dulles Airport
Gibran Parvez will showcase Heritage Dulles, an interactive map that highlights the history of the Dulles Airport area across different time periods, on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m.
The event will take place at Thomas Balch Library where participants will travel through time using an online interactive map-based museum, which is the culmination of research from a litany of sources, focused on hamlets and historical sites that stood within and around today’s Dulles Airport.
Developed with the use of resources at Thomas Balch Library, Heritage Dulles brings forth never-before-seen research and photography to illustrate what life was like in the age of turnpikes and railroads, all from a web browser to anywhere in the world.
The presentation will be held in-person and virtually. Pre-registration is required. Please call 703-737-7195, email balchlib@leesburgva.gov, or register online.
Gibran Parvez is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington and works in the GIS field in Northern Virginia.
