LVHS Safe Night Halloween was so much fun

Dear Editor:

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, I attended Loudoun Valley High School’s Safe Night Halloween with my grandchildren. I was thoroughly pleased with the event and am grateful for the students and staff that
organized this fun evening for the community.

A common perception now is of teenagers engrossed in their phones and being disengaged. During this evening, I witnessed the opposite—students interacting with the trick or treaters, setting up games and activities, handing out candy, and leading dance parties in the library.

When we walked up to the entrance of the school we were met by volunteers handing out maps and then we were cheered on by many more costumed volunteers in the front lobby at the “candy buffet.” My grandchildren were surrounded by creativity and laughter.

All evening, they were encouraged to attempt games and take candy. Students and staff were very interactive and created a fun environment. My little ones even got into a balloon sword battle with the
custodial staff on duty that evening. I am proud to be part of this community and appreciate all the effort by students and staff to host such a wonderful event!
