Fire Marshal’s Office investigation results in arrest of Sterling man

A Sterling man has been arrested following an investigation by the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office into reported threats. Jake Kerata, 39, has been charged with two counts of Threats to bomb or damage buildings or means of transportation; false information as to danger to such buildings, etc. (§ 18.2-83.).
At approximately 7:06 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, the LCFR FMO was called to a business in the 45400 block of Holiday Drive to investigate the report of two calls indicating there was a bomb inside the structure.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect allegedly made the calls from inside the business and warrants were obtained. On the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 3, the suspect was taken into custody and held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
