Purcellville Virtual Public Safety Week —May 12 – 18

Join the virtual fun.

During the week of May 12, the Purcellville Police Department will be collaborating with Virginia State Police, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Loudoun County Animal Services, Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, Loudoun Domestic Abuse Response Team, Loudoun County Fire & Rescue, Leesburg Police Department, Purcellville Volunteer Fire Department, and Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad to bring our citizens a Virtual Public Safety Week.

Public Safety Week combines celebrating National Police Week and EMS Week to highlight the important work of our local first responders. Each day during the week-long event, one or more agencies will post on social media a video, safety tip, and/or a craft for all our residents to enjoy.

As communities continue to adapt to current circumstances due to COVID, this event will offer citizens a chance to become informed of the resources available to them.

Visit the Town of Purcellville website (www.purcellvilleva.gov) for a list of agencies for each corresponding day, and remember to check the Purcellville Police Department’s Facebook page for the daily posts (https://facebook.com/purcellvillepolicedepartment/).

National Police Week is recognized during the week of May 15. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation naming May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The Purcellville Police Department has served the residents of Purcellville since 1908, growing into the State Accredited Agency it is today. Purcellville PD strives to provide law enforcement services in partnership with the community.

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate Emergency Medical practitioners and the important work they do in our nation’s communities. EMS Week allows communities to recognize that emergency medical services are an essential public function and a vital component in the medical care continuum.

The Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad provides emergency medical and rescue services to the community, staffed completely by volunteers. PVRS counts on community support for its operations.
