LCSO Seeks Identity of Two Potential Witnesses in Vandalism of Statue

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from two potential witnesses who were in the area after the Confederate statue on the Loudoun County Courthouse grounds in Leesburg was vandalized August 17.

Surveillance video from the downtown Leesburg area shows two males walking in the area around the same time as the vandalism occurred. Detectives are asking for the two males or anyone who knows them to contact the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office at 703-777-0475.

The statue was spray painted with graffiti that included obscene language after midnight on August 17. Last week, detectives released surveillance video of two suspects who appear to be light skinned males. The video can be viewed at http://sheriff.loudoun.gov/statue.

The graffiti was able to be removed and there was no permanent damage to the statue.

Anyone with any information regarding this case is asked to contact the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475.
